We at Lachlan Mór Bespoke believe
Our seven points are:
1) Quality.
2) Sustainability of materials and environment.
3) Honesty and open communication.
4) Support small and family owned merchants, mills and trimming houses.
5) Nurture Relationships with clients and suppliers.
6) Keep overhead low.
7) Low client rotation
Expanding upon the above six points of our business plan, we feel quality comes first. It is with quality that all great houses are to be known. We at Lachlan Mór Bespoke are not happy until you are happy, be it fit, styling or quality of construction. We will not allow any garment leave the shop that bears our name unless that garment exemplifies all that we stand for as artisans.
Secondly, we feel sustainability is a necessary business principal in this day and age. Sometime during the 1950's tailoring switched over to "space age" fibres and suffered greatly for it. Not only do these fibres (such as acrylics and polyester) run hotter but the production of these fibres is bad for the environment. At Lachlan Mór Bespoke we will only use natural fibre trimmings and linings where we can. We do not use any polyester threads, instead use the highest quality mercerised cotton, linen and silk. As it becomes more available we will be switching over to organic cotton threads.
Honesty and open communication, we feel, is the foundation which relationships are built. We are not just your tailor; we are a friend, confidant and advisor. As a part of this point we wanted to also do away with "marketers" talk. We feel the proof is in the pudding so to say. Does our client really want to know how we carefully hand-stitch the gargle blaster in our thingamabob in the most imaginative way, or how we polish each horn button into a shine that rivals the brilliance of the sun? No, he or she wants an honest garment that reflects who he or she is. An honest reflection of who they are.
As artisans and producers we feel it is our duty to support the smaller, independent artisans like ourselves. In a world of mass production, the celebration of mediocrity and acceptance of substandard goods we can not in good faith support this. As such we only use suppliers that reflect this dedication to staying independent, producing the highest quality of goods and supports local artisans and mills. We take pride in offering cloth provided by independent weavers in Scotland and the small cloth merchants and family owned mills of Huddersfield. If we are not 100% satisfied of the origin of any product we do not use it. Only American, Italian and British goods are suitable for our trade.
If quality is our face, then nurturing of relationships is our core. Hand in hand with honesty and open communication our relationship with our clients and suppliers is how we want to do business. As artisans and tailors we have a near symbiotic relationship with our clients. When our clients look good, we look good. If our clients are not happy, we are not happy and so on. In the end we want to transcend the typical client/ tailor relationship.
we strive to do all this with the lowest overhead possible. All the brass, marble and mahogany is not going to make you look good nor improve the quality of your wardrobe. This is nothing but flash that increases pricing and at times distracts one from the process and point of having a bespoke garment made for you.
Finally, we only accept a small number of clients per term. We do not do this to put on an air of exclusivity but to insure the highest quality and attention to each of our clients. This also allows us to maintain a quicker turn around on your garments. At present we are only accepting two commissions a month, but check in as we sometimes have time to put an odd trouser or sport coat into the rotation.
If you like the points of our business and believe this is a model you can really get on board with, please write today to set up a consultation and let us see what we can do for you.
